Art Talks: Prehistory

Presented by art historian Gary Martin, M.A., the evening program will explore the distant beginnings of human culture and artistic expression. The presentation will examine prehistoric cave paintings, early sculpture, and the daily lives of prehistoric peoples, offering insight into how our earliest ancestors survived, communicated, and created meaning long before written language.
Using projected images and discussion, Martin will guide audiences through some of the world’s earliest surviving works of art, including painted caves of Europe and remarkable prehistoric carvings and sculptures. The program will also consider how early humans hunted, lived in communities, developed tools, and responded to the natural world around them.
The presentation is designed for general audiences and will appeal to those interested in art history, archaeology, anthropology, and ancient civilizations.
The event is free and open to the public.
